Downy hair can be as much a problem as the stronger hair. Usually dense on the sides of the face and neck, in some cases it can cover most of the face.

Many patients have a combination of downy hair and strong hair. In some cases the treatment will include Alkaline Wash followed by IPL/Laser treatment to treat all of the unwanted hair. The DMK Alkaline Wash, or Danné Montague King Alkaline Wash system is an effective professional treatment which has been specifically designed to reduce fine, downy hair. It is most commonly used on the face but can also be used on other parts of the body.

The special Alkaline wash solution is applied to the skin for approximately 3-4 minutes by our trained therapists. The high alkaline level works to dissolve the hair part of the underlying follicle.

With regular treatments the hair’s regrowth becomes slower and ultimately hair growth usually stops altogether over time.

The treatment usually takes approximately 1/2 hour and is not painful at all. The only potential side effect is the possiblity of some redness after treatment (a bit like sunburn) which will pass fairly quickly. A patch test is carried out before treatment as a precaution to check for any sensitivities.

Q: Can I use alkaline facial wash alongside other treatments?

A: DMK Alkaline Wash is designed to tackle fine, downy hair. However, if you also have coarse dark hair then DMK treatment can be combined with electrolysis or laser. We recommend that you begin with Alkaline wash treatment; the coarse hairs that are not removed can then be treated with advanced electrolysis or laser hair removal a few weeks later.

Q: Is alkaline bad for my skin?

A: No, Alkaline wash is used in many of our skin revision systems and is not bad for the skin. We always finish the treatment with the appropriate products to restore optimal skin health

Q: Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?

A: It is physically impossible for your hair to grow back thicker or darker as the alkaline wash weakens and eventually reduces the hair growth

Q: How often will I need to have this done?

A: When you initially start, you will have the treatment as often as you would wax the area. As the hair growth weakens, the hair is reduced and your treatments will become further and further apart. These treatments are progressive; there is no one quick fix treatment that gets rid of hair permanently

Q: Can I wear make up?

A: You can wear makeup 8 hours after the alkaline treatment

What to expect

Whats happening to my skin?

DMK enzyme therapy creates a “reverse osmosis” action. It is a back flushing action which forces fluid through the membranes around the cells flushing out impurities.
